Why You Don’t Need an Office to Start Your Own Business

Category : jobs

It’s no secret that having a criminal record can make getting a job tough. That doesn’t stop you from needing money to live though.

Starting your own business is a great solution, one that is easier to put into action than you might think. It’s easy to think of offices as being synonymous with businesses, but you don’t actually need an office to start a business.

Operate From Home

Your home can be the ideal place to run a bunch of different businesses. You wouldn’t be the first to start a business out of your home. Freelance writing, blogging, personal training, teaching music, and investing are just a few of the home-based businesses you can run

Many home-based businesses require little more than the internet and a laptop or computer to get started. Think about the skills you possess and how you can leverage them to generate income from your home.

Use Software

Remote work is the future of business. With the right software, you gain unparalleled freedom and flexibility to operate your business. Cloud software can give you the option of working anywhere you want. Dropbox makes it easy to securely share large files.

PayPal makes payment processing easy. Slack gives you the ability to communicate with team members from anywhere. If you want to log into your desktop without having to be physically present, LogMeIn lets you access it from anywhere in the world.

Use a Virtual Office as Needed

Sometimes you still need a fully-furnished physical office space for meetings with investors or want to make use of office-related services. Having a professional physical address (as opposed to your home address) lends your business an additional level of professionalism. You can get all of that without the overhead cost of owning or leasing an office through a virtual office. A virtual office also offers you access to technology and hardware you might need on occasion. It’s a great resource to supplement your home-based business.

You don’t need an office to start a business. Starting your own business can be very simple. Start with a good idea that addresses a need in a unique way. Then, create a business plan, decide how you want to structure your business, and get whatever licenses you need to operate. From there, decide where you want to operate from. Virtual offices, coworking spaces, or even your home are all great options. Think about what makes the most sense for your business and go from there.

Why You Should Hire a Career Coach

Category : jobs

If you’re having trouble finding a career, or even just a job as someone with a criminal record, you’re not alone. That struggle can make life incredibly difficult, especially when you’re trying to do everything you can to live your life right. The good news is that there are resources out there that you can use to make finding a job easier. One of those things is to hire a career coach. Do you know what a career coach can do for you?

Improve Your Interview Skills

Getting a job almost always requires an interview. Successfully navigating the interview process can be easier said than done. Not everyone naturally interviews well, but a career coach can help you improve your interviewing skills.

You need to understand what your body language says and how to use it to say what you want to. You need to know how to communicate clearly and think fast to answer questions you may not be prepared for. You need to know how to ask clarifying questions and how to promote your relevant skills. All of those are skills a career coach can help you develop.

Help Define Your Goals

Do you know what your career goals are? What job do you want to have? Who do you want to work for? How are you going to get there? If you don’t know the answers to those questions, a career coach can help you discover and define them.

They can help you figure out what improvements you need to make, no matter how small, to achieve your goals. Making small improvements regularly can lead to exponential growth. It may be frustrating and seem like you aren’t making progress quickly enough, but those changes will add up over time. It just takes a little patience.

Create an Effective Resume

Crafting an effective resume is another essential skill. If you’re struggling to even get interviews, the problem may lie with your resume. Maybe you don’t know how to tailor your resume to potential employers or it’s not organized well. Maybe it doesn’t list the right information. A career coach can help you overhaul your resume so it is more likely to get the attention of interviewers in a good way.

Everyone needs some sort of income to survive. Hiring a career coach can make finding a reliable source of income much easier. They can’t find a job for you, but they can give you the tools you need to make landing one easier to do. Look for career coaches that offer a free sample session and try a few out. That will give you an idea of what coaching style and type of coach will best serve your needs.
